Don't text me "hey"

I don't know about you,

But man I hate when someone starts a conversation with,

"Hey",

I might as well be talking to chatGPT,

But what’s worse...

Is when I see an opener just as boring in a piece of copywriting,

The first line you write is the most crucial,

To avoid being boring, here’s what you should do,

1. WIIFM,

A WIIFM (what’s in it for me) should be in nearly every piece of text you write,

It tells the audience what they will gain from reading what you have to say,

So many more people will read to the end,

That’s why it’s important to include this in the first few lines.

2. A short sentence,

Using a short sentence will hook the audience in,

Here's an example;

Weak opening:

"Many business owners struggle with writing sales copy that converts, often getting caught up in technical jargon that confuses their audience and lowers engagement."

Strong opening:

"Nobody’s reading your copy."

(Shocking, direct, and makes you want to keep going.)

3. Be hyper-specific.

Make your hook specific to make it realistic and intriguing,

Example;

Bad: “Facebook ads can be expensive.”

Good: “I spent exactly $3,482.76 on Facebook ads last month—and got nothing in return.”

Why? The first one is precise and intriguing. The second is vague and uninteresting.
